Vernacular Medicine in Chinese History

International Symposium held at the the Institute of Modern History (IMH) at Academia -Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan, August 7-9, 2026.

Members of the team attended a “Vernacular Medicine in Chinese History” International Symposium 中國歷史上的常民醫學」國際學術研討會 hosted by our partner institution, the Institute of Modern History (IMH) at Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan, and organized by Chang Che-chia of IMH,  from August 7-9, 2026. This was an opportunity to share recent developments in our research not only with fellow members of the project but also with Taiwan scholars working on Chinese medicine. These local experts included several researchers at Academia Sinica together with medical professionals and researchers working at various universities and hospitals in Taiwan. They also included scholars from The National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine 衛生福利部國家中醫藥研究所 with whom we are collaborating in creating a database of late Qing and early Republican medical periodicals.
